Learning that your child is transgender, non-binary, or exploring their gender can trigger a whirlwind of emotions for any parent. While parents often seek out counseling services for their child, they might not always do the same for themselves, leading to feelings of being untethered from their support networks, isolated, and alone.

With over fifteen years dedicated to working closely with transgender, non-binary adolescents, and their families, I bring a wealth of experience to our sessions. My approach is grounded in the belief that each family's experience is unique, and so the support I offer is highly personalized to meet you exactly where you are.

Understanding your child's experiences with their gender and gender dysphoria, and its potential impact on their health and well-being—including feelings of anxiety, depression, or isolation—is crucial. When we struggle to understand another’s experiences, we often ask questions, seeking a pathway to understanding. However, when asking their child to about their gender, parents are frequently met with anger, sadness, and rejection, feeling even more distanced from their child, and oftentimes, more confused.

Our work together can range from traditional talk therapy, where we explore your feelings and develop strategies for supporting your child, to psycho-educational sessions designed to create a nonjudgmental space for you to ask questions. This aims to equip you with the knowledge to navigate the complexities of gender identity and gender dysphoria your child may be experiencing, thereby reducing the need seek answers from your child. This combination ensures that you are not only heard and supported but also informed and empowered with the knowledge and tools to be a safe harbor for your child.

I am here to offer not just support, but a partnership. Together, we can navigate the challenges and celebrate the joys of supporting your child's journey, whatever it may be. My commitment is to provide a space where questions are welcomed, emotions are validated, and families can grow stronger together.

Having a transgender child is a tremendous gift to you, your family, and the world at large. Transgender children call upon the adults in their lives to dig beyond the surface, to find, cultivate, and hold onto the most authentic versions of ourselves. This journey, while challenging at times, enriches families with deeper understandings of unconditional love and the power of living in our truth.
